Hughes And Firth Confirmed for 2012 ELMS Campaign

Team RLR Msport have confirmed that Warren Hughes and Jody Firth have been signed for the 2012 European Le Mans Series and will also, if the team is elevated from their current slot on the reserve list, drive for the team at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Team RLR MSport will run their new ORECA-Nissan 03 LMP2 car on Dunlop rubber, and the team will be looking to build upon Hughes and Firth’s fine record as a pairing, with two sportscar championships in as many years.

Hughes's CV includes an LMP2 victory at Le Mans whilst Firth has established himself as a winner since stepping up to prototypes. Last year he took two race wins on his way to fourth in the LMS drivers' championship.

The Bolton-based team is backed by Dublin-based green energy entrepreneur and former Formula 3 race winner, Greg Murphy.

The team aims to incorporate cutting-edge renewable energy technology into its race programme. This will include third-generation renewable technologies on the car, plus third-generation thin film solar technologies in the garage. The team will also strive to achieve carbon neutral status for the planned Le Mans project.

The teams backers have competencies in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for automotive, renewable and aerospace applications. Through its partnership with Dell Computers, the team will have state of the art Dell HPC computing capabilities to facilitate ongoing chassis development throughout the season. They are also developing innovative in-house solutions for the development of hybrid technologies.
